Nothing bad can be said about this beer. Color was amber and slightly cloudy, but only slightly. The head was thick and viscous. Nose was VERY dank. Pine was definitely in the air. Taste has a very resinous, piney flavor with great bitterness!

16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'CO 12/12/22 BB 03/12/23'.
Slightly cloudy pale gold colored body. One thin finger of white head reduces to thin cap and ring. Leaves behind rings and strings of lacing.
Very aromatic upon opening. Aroma is pineapple and pine, and something similar to cat piss.
Taste is dank and rank. Orange, grapefruit, pineapple, pine, and a touch of mint. Very heavy hop residue in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Has some pine bitterness and hop dankness. Very good carbonation.
Good sweet malt base allows the dank and bitter parts to fully express. Tasty and smelly.

A beautiful dream, to be. A fantastic nightmare, please release me. In the dead of summer, to winter’s chill, we exist together - and sometimes violently still. At times I cry in sadness; while other times I whistle in glee. That said, at the end of the day, I will always be me. Weep. Smile. Cry. Scream… Forever together, humans to be.

Gold color, small white head, some lace.
Aroma of sweet malt and pine.
Taste of biscuit and dank pine. Nicely bitter.
Medium-bodied. The bitterness lingers and really makes this a special beer.

(16 oz can, CO 12/22/21; purchased cold single at Tucson Hop Shop... poured into a stemless wine glass)
L: polished-clear, orange-amber liquid; half-inch climb of frothy, active suds... the foam slowly dying but never quite; some thick, crusty bands of lace... attractive overall
S: straight up cannabis nugs, pungent and pointed; no other prominent aromas... perhaps a subtle underlying orange marmalade... weed all day; maintains popping potency and clarity
T: west coast-y kind of nutty, piney (Chinook?) approach with the bitter, peppery, highly-herbal, ethanol-sharpened hop tincture swelling up in the finish; perfumy bitter concentrate lighting up the palate in its clinically-dry aftertaste... a few sips in, on the sides of the tongue, trails of malt follow the hop charge; woody, toasty, nuttiness builds and meet the now static, arresting weed wash... yes, a bit of (under)ripe fruit on the outskirts; well-rounded flavor
F: surprisingly(?) little resinous plushness or drag; rather streamlined, taut body, lit and lifted by an ideally-balanced bracing bitterness and elegantly-assertive, near medicinal spirits
O: first NM beer tasted and reviewed, and it was a beaut!... this is my kind of west coast double IPA... quite possibly going back to the Hop Shop for another can or two (1851)

Clear, dark gold body; sparse carbonation; relatively thin yet sculpted and creamy textured head. Rich underlying malt sweetness on the nose topped with a bold pine and weed dankness. Outstanding taste; cracker and biscuit-like malt flavor; hard-hitting hop bitterness, heavy pine resin; moderate booziness. Heavy body; rich, thick and spongy on the palate; dense residual sugar feel; moderate alcohol dryness dominates the mouthfeel.
I really wish La Cumbre would spill the beans about the makeup of each edition of their Project Dank beers, but they don't. This one is certainly up there in the classic American, tongue-ripping category of India pale ales. It makes for a fine, spicy, cold-weather kind of IPA.
Winter 2021 edition; pouring temperature: 54 F; canning data: CO 12/02/21 BB03/02/22 #2792

Appearance: Pours clear and amber colored with a one finger head; a few shards of lace
Smell: Dank aromatics with bread crust, caramel and piney hop tones
Taste: The malt flavors stake out their turf, initially, with the bread crust and caramel forming a base; shortly thereafter, the resinous bitterness takes over, walloping the taste buds with dank pine flavor; quite bitter, through the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A bit of a throwback to the days of competing for the highest IBU count; well-constructed for those who like that style
Thanks, kevindp9, for the opportunity

Picked up a single from the Kings Beer & Wine cooler 1-10-19 for $3.69. Canned on 12/13/18; best by 3/13/19. Consumed on 4-1-19; cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured orange with a billowy white head that has some great hang time.
Nose is grapefruit forward with some hints of peach and mango.
Taste follows the nose, a wonderful manage of peach, mango, grapefruit over a moderate malt base. Finishes with a touch of pine.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and very refreshing.
Overall despite its age it has held up well. Look forward to the spring edition!

16 oz. Can
CO: 12/17/19
BB: 03/16/20
2 Weeks on this can.
Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden orangy color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice creamy two-finger off-white head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, guava), pretty nice piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, guava), pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew. Glad to still see it around here again.
