Harkening back to a time when pale malts had not yet even been created, our deep black Porter is rich but balanced, intensely chocolaty but not burnt.

Thanks hophound
Deep mahogany with backlight allowing for a hint of dark golden brown to show through. Sandy to mocha colored fluff, great retention for a porter. Prominent layers of lacing.
Nose is solid porter: roast, bitter coffee, slight hints of sweet, a mild hint of dark fruit, followed by a slight nuttiness.
Flavor follows very close to nose. Deep roast, charred edges of brown bread, round cocoa, hazelnut, again an undercurrent of dark fruit: prune.
Medium to chewy. Slick finish. A nice mix of complex, slightly sweet notes play well with a bittering roast on the end.
Overall, a really solid porter.

16oz can with no date. Opened 11-13-21.
1/4" sand colored head on a mahogany core and amber-brown edge porter.
Minimal retention and holds at a cap (maybe not a good pour by me?). Spotty, wispy lacing.
Roasty as all get out on first whiff...big roast and an almost PB powder dry nuttiness.
Chocolate, roasted and lightly bitter malt, some dark fruit and mild coffee. Bittersweet chocolate late.
Medium body at most and carbonation is there but non-intrusive with a smooth/velvety mouthfeel.
Lengthy and semi-sweet finish.
Very Good to Outstanding.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 10-31-20 for $2.74. Canned 10-15-20; best by 1-13-21; consumed 2-10-21 but cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured dark brown with an okay off white head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is mild roast, floral hops, and a touch of chocolate malts.

Taste is really well balanced with a light mild roast malt base that elicits a touch of chocolate that is balanced nicely by the floral hops.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and smooth.

Overall a nice old fashioned porter. Don't see these often anymore and it was enjoyable!

Pours dark brown with a nice tan head in my Firestone Walker 20 oz nonic pint glass (fills most of it). Smells like coffee and roast with a whiff of hops. Taste - yes, roasty, coffee, a little bitter with dark malts. A little thin but it’s very drinkable at 5.7 so no worries. A solid entry in the category that I like more than most.

poured from a 16 oz can ink black
And a patchy bubble head.
Good roasty notes, coffee scents.
Roasty, a hint of coffee, bitterness.
Somewhat watery, not a bad thing.
Nice porter, more edgy than other porters.

Pours a midnight black with one finger of head and decent lacing. Nose is roasted coffee, and the taste follows. An excellent coffee forward porter, with a nice dry finish. If I could find this more often I would drink it all winter.

L- black brown foam. Lacing and head solid.
S- solid bitter chocolate and coffee malt roast whiff for days. Maybe the highlight of this beer
T - good solid porter roast. Not heavy but good palate impact. T does not match the aroma.
M- mouthfeel solid...not overly carbonated which means smooooovveee drinking.
O- fantastic American Porter.

Dark brown body; nice head, dense and creamy with a khaki hue. Cocoa and roasted grains in the nose; light caramel; suggestion of vanilla. Milk chocolate and vanilla greet you on the initial sip; a note of espresso and caramel. Heavy body; smooth and slick on the palate; nice residual sugar body.

La Cumbre delivers a robust and complex porter. I love the body and overall taste. It is all very satisfying. A beautifully balanced dark ale.
