Matte black with a puffy tan head.
Savage expresses chocolate milk before a touch of balancingly woody cacao, while tangy amaretto and tobacco come in shortly thereafter.
Frothy and light on the palate.

Canned on 10/4/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black; creamy khaki head that fades leaving solid retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are malt forward. Hints of cocoa, chocolate, vanilla and marshmallows. Hints of char and smoke. Mild and subtle hints of anise. The flavors follow the nose. Some milk chocolate along with more vanilla in the mix. More hints of smoke. Low bitterness with a soft sweetness. Strong malt backbone. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's extremely fluffy, smooth and slightly creamy.
This is a solid stout. It's simply a classic and traditional example of the style. It's enjoyable and fun to drink. Not bad at all. I like it.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This fine little Ohio stout pours
a nice brown tinged black with a very nice head of off white foam that subsides to
a thick ring, thin layer, and features some very nice webbed lacing. Nose of light
cocoa, light char, and a hint of coffee and dark malts. Flavors exceed the nose
by weight with char touched cocoa awash in dark malts and light coffee notes
with a bitter note on the rear. Nice mouth feel, lightly creamy, moderately sweet, but
a bit thin with light carbonation.
Overall, a good stout, and of note one should mention that this is a STOUT, NOT
an IMPERIAL. It is easy to drink and sessionable. That said it is one that is solid for
the style and nicely roasted.
Cheers

Pours black in color with some deep brown notes shining through the edges of my glass. Small tan colored head.
Smells malty, simple, and faintly of hard water.
Taste: Roasted malts, maybe a bit burnt or smoked. The label says a "warm chocolate finish", however I note nothing about this beer is warm nor chocolatey.
The mouthfeel is definitely quite thin for a stout. Very thin. Its still better than say a budweiser or something, but obviously its supposed to be bigger than anything like that. It may be the thinnest American Stout I have tried. There is nothing "savage" about this stout whatsoever.
Uniquely, that manages to keep this beer more drinkable. Let's call it a stout that you feel comfortable drinking several of over the duration of the day.
