Poured out of a 12 oz. can into a tulip glass. This beer pours a dark brown color w/ just a deep slight amber hue. Has a frothy, light tan head that's well over an inch thick when first poured. Settles eventually to a thin ring lining the inside of the glass at the beer's surface along w/ pretty decent lacing. Aromas of some toasted, bready, caramel, smoked malts and dark fruit that gives way to some earthy hop notes. A very similar flavor profile, with some toasted, smoked, bready caramel malts that give a nice sweetness that's followed by a bit of toffee and dark fruit notes of plum and raisin that's all rounded out w/ a nice touch of earthy hops. Has a crisp, slightly chewy and sticky, medium bodied mouthfeel w/ moderate carbonation. A good representation of this beer style. Worth a try for sure.

Canned on 1/28/21. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a dark brown; big fluffy and rocky khaki head that falls slowly leaving great retention and sticky frothy lacing. The aromas are malt forward along with some toast. Cocoa comes through. Hints of caramel and toffee. Even some mild and subtle hints of coffee. The flavors follow the nose. More cocoa and chocolate. More caramel and toffee. More toast. Hints of cherry in the mix. Low bitterness. Subtle sweetness. Strong malt backbone. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's extremely fluffy, slightly creamy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a decent brew. It's nothing too crazy, but it's not supposed to be. It's a solid, classic and traditional example of the style. Not bad.

Bottled on: Not stated
Container: 12 oz bottle
Glass: Pint
Pour: Normal

Pours a hazy, rusty brown with a finger of off-white head that dissolves into a thin film; some lacing. Big malty nose and medium bodied. Taste is malt, toffee, dark fruit, maybe a hint of caramel. Overall, a more civilized version than others of this style. I will gladly buy again.

Could it be? An easy drinking Scottish ale? It doesn't seem right, but this one is easy drinking (in comparison to others of the style). I suppose it is a fault to not be harsh and have a nasty bite, but I won't fault it.

It looks right in the glass - dark, translucent and a smallish head. The aroma is right too, a nice roasty, hoppy, malty smell.

The taste is a nice bitter bomb with lots of malt taste, as it should be. Where it happily misses is the nasty bite I associate with this style. It actually has a creamy feel.

This is not what I expect from the style, but it is a great, easy drinking representation of it, and I recommend it. I wonder what would happen if they made a double version of this.

An excellent interpretation of a Scottish ale. Beer pours a beautiful mahogany brown with a thick off white head that dies down to a nice thin foam layer. Lots of clinging lacing going on here. Smell of toffee, raisins, chocolate, and sweet peat malts. Taste is sublime, with sweet peat malts up front, some toffee, and a velvety smooth mouthfeel. Rich without being thick on the palate. Light hops in the background. All in all a FANTASTIC Scottish. Cheers!

Love the name and the cover art. Have had the brewery before so I put down $1.99 for the single.

A - Very hazy amber brown, deep color with a 1/2 inch of opaque colored head that sticks around for quite a while. Great Lacing.
S - Smells of nuts, toffee, smoked peat and a surprising bit of chocolate malts.
T - Very herbal tasting and surprisingly it does have a hint of coffee in the finish which was unexpected. The herbal flavors are quite strange reminding me of beers I have drank in the past brewed with spruce tips. The finish is rather sweet and the coffee/ chocolate flavors mixed with toffee is constant. Strange but enjoyable.
M - Light to medium in body. Not extremely chewy. Easy to finish.

Overall I want to enjoy this unique take on a Scottish ale but the spruce tips/herbal flavor is kind of off putting. Worth a try though it is well crafted.

Appearance - dark mahagony/copper color with cream colored head

Smell - caramel, nuts, toffee, cherry

Taste - caramel, toffee, toasted nuts

Mouthfeel - smooth, lighter end of medium bodied, low carbonation, sweetness is present but it is not cloying, flavors linger pretty well in the aftertaste, long finish

Overall - don't know a lot about this brewer, picked this up on a whim and it doesn't disappoint. Solid beer, certainly worthy of a try if you see it

Price Point - $1.99/12 oz single

"An intense Scottish Ale with complex roasted and toffee flavors. 5.9% ABV 27 IBU's"

12 oz bottle poured a very dark mahogany color but was very clear, with no sediment in the bottle. A modest sized but very durabletan head covered the top and left great lacing on the glass.

The smell, taste and feel are are exceptional. Creamy smooth, plenty of dark roasted malt flavor with a hint of black coffee. Some ight smoke but no burnt notes. A trace of dark fruit on the tongue but more in the aroma. Mildly bitter finish and aftertaste.

O: Excellent!
