Picked up this growler two days ago in the 09' Growling at the Moon trade.

Courtesy of stonequarrywest

Poured from the growler semi rigorously into a pub glass. Served at 50 degrees, it formed up a brown fluffy 2 inch head. Receding to leave a quarter inch cap. Color is black with some ruby glowing at the edges when held to light.
Very small amount of lace here.

The aroma is gorgeous! Rich malt and chocolate grain aroma. Some gourmet dark roasted, just grinded coffee bean aroma. Malt is pungent with dark things doing great things to my nostrils. Some mild protein oatmeal aroma, mostly drown out by coffee, grain and chocolate malt.

Taste is not as bitter or roasty as aroma might have suggested, upping the drinkability factor. Starting out with a mild milky oatmeal flavor and just a touch of spice, reminds me of egg nogg with a touch of nutmeg. Increasing amounts of dark grains, with really fresh grain flavor, never husky though, just a pronounced fresh from the mash grain taste. Mixing here with mild amounts of coffee and more oats.
Finishing bitter with a touch of fuggle leaf flavors. There is a clean finish to this too. Its not overweight and heavy, not too sweet or too bitter. It gives great flavor with strong desire to sip more. No burden flavors here at all.

Mouthfeel is medium carbonation with some full bodied feel and a touch of creamy smooth feeling.

This is a textbook example of an oatmeal stout with perfect mouthfeel and spot on taste and aroma.
Extremely drinkable, especially on a snowy 20 degree day like today.

Thank you so much Gabe for this awesome brew.

This has a very black body with a huge, soupy, tan head. There’s a good bit of coffee and black chocolate on the nose. The flavor suggests a tasty and malty stout, but it’s unfortunately served on nitrous, which deadens a bit of the flavor. Still quite the tasty beer.
