Thanks to FooFaa for sharing this 22oz. bomber on 9/14/09.
A - Poured a dark toffee brown color with a frothy, foamy beige head that retained well and left thick, bubbly lace around the glass.
S - Malty aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee, as well as toasted nuts and earthy notes suggesting wood and tree bark. Quite aromatic and complex for a brown ale, actually.
T - Chocolate and coffee notes team up with a nutty malt character and plenty of earthy, woody hop notes, the latter of which gives this brown ale an almost burnt, charred and bitter character. Finishes with a surprisingly earthy, herbal hop bite.
M - Medium bodied and softly carbonated, although perhaps a bit thin overall, but still pretty robust and porter-esque. Finishes with a mild astringency and good bit of bitterness on the palate.
D - Very good brown ale with more flavor and aroma than your typical offering. Good stuff. I enjoyed this one more than I was anticipating.
