Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a stemmed vase, the beer is a very dark, brown-to-black coloring with a foamy, light tan head. Nose is a blast of booze, apple, fig and date, and caramel. Flavors are heavy and smooth, with a tangy toffee and honey forward character, fruit blend of apple and old world fruits, and a kick of molasses. Smooth and robust, with a booze and tangy sweet aftertaste. Slight cloying as you go, but balanced and smooth throughout. The finish is slick and coating. Solid barleywine!
