Thanks, Chad!
Got this as part of a nice haul from Chad on his latest work trip to San Diego. Big fan of Tioga-Sequoia, which I think is underrated. Can had me at Mosaic. Labeled as an “Unfiltered India Pale Lager Brewed and Dry-Hopped with Mosaic Cryo Hops.” Should be a good one.
Poured a hazy gold color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Could not see any bubbles underneath. World-class foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled Mosaic right away. Also floral perfume, papaya, tangerine, grass, lime zest, skunky pine, berry and light herbal. As always, much better out of the can. More tropical notes with guava joining the papaya notes. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose. Not exactly fresh and could taste the malt. Very spicy, which was surprising. Got dry Mosaic, grass, papaya, bitter tangerine peel, berry, green leafy pine, white grapefruit, citrus zest and white bread. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was a pretty good IPL overall. Would like to revisit fresh. (Overall - 3.75)

Can poured into a Tioga Sequoia Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours slightly hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some thick lacing.
S: Zesty citrus, grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit, grassy and piney notes, crackery/biscuity malt, and just a touch of sweetness.
T: Citrus, lemon and pink grapefruit, a bit grassy, spicy piney, faint fruity notes, crackery/biscuity malt, and just a touch of sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, crisp.
O: Not quite what I was expecting from a mosaic hopped beer, but not bad.
