This was yet another beer that I picked up while out at Yosemite last year, as I took a while to get around to it. While not the biggest fan of this style, this was a wonderful example of an American Lager that was clean, crisp, flavorful, and not in the least bit weak or watered down!
To no one's shock, this poured a nice, clear gold with a full, white head that was just as lively as the bubbles seen after every sip. One thick ring of suds remained near the top of my pint glass with a fair amount of lacing remained the rest of the way down. Lots of Pilsner Malt, a hint of wheat, grass, and Noble Hops were in the nose as the taste was just as smooth and inviting. Not too sour and not in the least big skunky, the sulfur was at a minimum as there was just a hint of biscuit, bread, and cracker to give this the body it needed.
A touch of lemongrass came through in the back as this easily left me wanting more once I finished it off. Canned on the 188th day of last year, this held up better than more popular examples of the style. This would be perfect for quaffing after a long day of hiking or climbing the falls, as the description on the can was quite fitting. Props to Tioga-Sequoia for this understated winner of a beer!
