A distinctly complex Märzen-style lager. This Amber lager was brewed using traditional German ingredients. Bierleichen! delivers rich, toasty, bready flavors that finishes with a soft, maltly sweetness.

Copper colored and hazy in complexion. There’s a fingernail of tan around the rim and covering a third of the top. The aroma is of lightly bready malt with a hint of grassy hops. I’m tasting sourdough bread and a hint of grassy hops. The mouth is light and easygoing.

Clear amber color with a small white head that reduces to just a ring very quickly, no real lacing.
The aroma is toasted caramel malt, lightly toasted bread.
The taste follows with more caramel up front over toasted bread. There is just a touch of grassy hops in a fairly dry finish.
The body is light/medium, fairly smooth.
Altogether, a decent marzen style brew.

Poured from a can. Head dissipated quickly to non existent. Smells of bread, a bit of caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with ok carbonation. For a German Oktoberfest, something is missing. Can't put my finger on it.

12oz undated bottle poured into a dimpled mug at fridge temp 5.5% ABV. The beer pours bright light orange amber with off white head. The head recedes to a thin film and pencil thin ring. The aroma is sweet bready caramel. The taste is more bready caramel but it's almost completely obscured by flavors of metal, tangyness and incomplete fermentation. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. Overall, ok. Would be fine with food, but it's a middle down Marzen to me.

Not bad, but comes across disjointed. There are two clashing taste profiles going on here. One part is sweet caramel/toffee malt flavor. The other part is burnt toast, plain and simple. It's missing that trademark Oktoberfest roast I am looking for and instead trades the usual taste profile for these two clashing flavors. Not bad, but wouldn't search out again.

I enjoy soft, malty, melanoidin-rich, bready German-style lagers. This one fits nicely in that category. It is an amber-copper color, very clear, with a slim, soon-disappearing head. The aroma is all about the malt. Light hops, but mostly a bready malt flavor. Balanced, if not tilted a little to the sweet side of things. Full in body and very enjoyable.

L: Copper
S: roasted malt
T:Toasted Malt is front and center but the grain's caramel sweetness becomes noticeable as the beer warms. Nice crisp dry finish very light touch of hops and faint toasted bread/grain after taste.
F: Medium about in the middle of the pack for a marzen.
O: Nicely balanced and clean marzen beer although it is still a malt driven beer. This one leans to a dry roasted grain with a light sweetness peaking through as it warms. The dry finish remains encouraging another sip. Fails to come together as well as European marzens. Average, serve cold but not ice cold to let the flavors shine.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toasted bread, caramel and earthiness. Sweet caramel with a hint of toastiness. Mild bitter finish.
