L: Pours a rich chocolate, forming a thin espresso head that is slow to fade. Reveals a flimsy effervescent tan retention with minimal lacing around the edges. Held to the light, this beer has a opaque umber hue, near-black.

S: Chocolate roast, malt, and a hint of bourbon barrel.

T: Bourbon barrel, cacao nibs, and coffee upfront. Mellows into more roasted malt, oak, and a trace of vanilla

F: Medium-bodied. Creamy, rich mouthfeel - almost silky. Light carbonation.

O: Good Russian Imperial Stout. Boozy but not overpowering, with a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. Nice flavors. Worth purchasing again.

Pours black with a finger of caramel colored foam. Aroma is roasty, toasty malts and grain. Chocolate, toffee, and barrel slip through the crevices, in descending order. Nose is reserved, coming in hearty, but not heavy. Flavor profile is chocolate, toffee, molasses, barrel and a little cocoa nib at the back. Roasty and toasty malts are firm underneath, but not resolute. It has some give, not totally black. Barrel character really develops as the beer warms up, giving it a bold, expressive, dynamic flavor profile. Despite being only 10% ABV, some heat seeps into the back. Mouth feel has a silty, fairly creamy texture. Thickness is medium-thick. Overall, it hits stout notes with barrel, but feels wobbly around the edges.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a very small, light brown head of foam. It smelled strongly of bourbon, chocolate and toffee. Sweet chocolate, toffee and caramel with a boozy bourbon taste.
