Brewed at Notch in Salem, but by Idle Hands. So whatever. I was excited and hoping that Notch would start brewing above session strength, but I guess this is an okay enough workaround.
Sampled at the brewery in proper glassware.
Pours a bright orange, a little pale for the style. Very cloudy with a fine white head.
Smells quite wheaty, with large nodes of bananas and peppers along with some more generic fruitiness. An intense aroma, but not at all alcoholic.
Tastes pretty good. Spice up front, fruit and bananas in the middle, some more pepper in the back end. The first few sips the finish was marred a bit by a hint of soapiness, but this seemed to magically disappear once I got about halfway through the glass.
A solid interpretation of a difficult style.

Poured from Notch Tap Room quart can into imperial pint glass. Opaque light caramel color with faintest lacy head. Mild aroma with some pine notes. Crisp, refreshing, with some ginger on the finish. Great expression of the style. Drink up!
