A reimagined version of our original Tripel, Jovial Monk is designed to lend itself better to the aluminum can format, yet still have a complex flavor profile that typically gets lost without bottle refermentation. We think you’ll enjoy this every bit as much as the original.

Giving this new Tripel a shot while laxing on a lazy Sunday afternoon.... 16oz can courtesy of daughter Caitlin from a recent visit to the Brewpub...
It's a bright, clear, rich golden color. Has scattered carbo meandering topside, while a thin, white layer of suds sits on top. Has light lacing sticking to the sniftah. Smells of bread dough, biscuits and green fruit - basically what I expect from a Tripel. Has a medium body with a bit of prickle lightly attacking the tongue.
Flavor follows the aroma - bready, biscuity malts laying down some light sweetness to start things. Then we're getting some green apple and a smidge of pear. Decent overall and somewhat tasty, though it lacks the complexity I've been spoiled with by some of the Belgian classics I've been fortunate to savor. Prost!!

Pours a fizzy bubbly 1.5 finger head with fair retention, a bit of lacing, clear honey blond color
Nose big Belgian yeast characters, apple pear like pome fruits, a little citrus, nice floral phenol spices with coriander, hint of sage like herbal, potpourri soft alcohol, sweet Belgian malt, cereal, honey cake, a touch of a candi sugar note
Taste brings more Belgian golden malts, cereal, golden candi sugar, semi sweet, some smooth alcohol warmth with potpourri like notes as well as the phenol spices, coriander, flowery, ester fruits like the pome fruit apple pear, a little citrus, lemongrass, light saison like herbal spicy hop notes, lingering fair spicy hop bitterness
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med mild effervescent carb, light warming alcohol
Overall quite nice, right on the style and enjoyable, one of the better ones from Idle Hands
