Can to tulip.
The appearance was a nice looking a pale yellow-ed paper color with a small cap of a little off white foamy head quickly slid off to leave a sticky ring of lace.
The aroma had shaved lemon peel, semi-sweet Belgian yeasty breadiness, grassy hops, a mild white pepper but with a light funk to it and a light mineral water-like clean smell underneath.
The flavor guided the sweetness from the prior mentioned aromas to try and go further but ended up allowing the mineral water and grassiness to overtake the taste. Mild aftertaste of the sweet side of the white pepper along with some grassiness and mineral water.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under. Pretty good sessionability. Good carbonation. ABV felt as projected. Crisp semi-smooth yeasty/bready finish.
Overall, pretty nice table saison or grissette, I believe that's what Mystic was going for. Would be a fabulous beer next to some grilled salmon steaks! Trying to be positive here since I failed to drink this during Summer when I should've had this but I won't be too harsh on my numbers on this.

a hoppy table beer that i had way higher hopes for. i love mystic, and order/buy their beer blind when i find it, i respect them that much, but this one was almost under flavored to me from the tap, i get the hops sure, especially in the nose, dry hoppy and citrusy and easy and summery, but the rest of the saison never really materializes. i dont get much wheat or any grain at all for that matter, although the body isnt particularly watery or anything, and i definitely miss any real saison yeast element, funky, farmy, or otherwise, its a pretty minimal fermentation profile, and its really the missing element for me, it would bring a lot to this beer, whatever it was, even a clean belgian yeast profile, but there isnt much of anything there. i get some minerals there at the end with the hops, grounding and earthy, like i taste the water profile because there is so little else to taste aside from the hops. i am all in favor of a nice table saison, i love lively low alcohol beer for all day drinking, but this seems underdone to me, minimal to a fault, aside from the hops of course, which are fresh and limey to me. overall not bad, but not much to get excited about either. i guess it didnt help that the bartender told me not to order it and i did anyway, but not what i am used to from these guys...

Canned 6/08
Pours a light fizzy airy 1 finger head that fades at a fair pace, very little lacing, hazy blond color
Nose typical Belgian saison, gristy malt, toasted wheat, a little sweet malt, lemony notes, faint fruity esters, mild spices phenol notes, little tartness, faint grassy fruity hops
Taste brings more toasted grainy malts, toasted wheat, a little creamy, big lemon zest and fruity hops with grassy hops as well, a bit of a tart note but barely, mild spices and phenols, cereal grain and a touch of fruity esters, mild to fair bitterness ramping quite a bit on the dry finish, spicy hops with a little astringency on the finish as well
Mouth is med bod, a bit heavier than I expected but with fizzy carbonation
Overall not bad, nice easy drinking saison except for the big spicy bitter astringent finish that gets in the way a bit, but if you're in the mood for hops and it's 90+ degrees out, this is a good substitute
