The Old Tart at Carmodys was one of two seasonal offerings (the other was a banana brown). It was served in a standard shaker pint. The beer is a chill hazed dark yellow with a skim of off-white head.
It has a nose of something sour which verges on fruit like. There are also husky malts underneath.
The beer is slightly tart and a wee bit sour. It’s not an in your face sour. Old apples (that's good) a bit of raspberries and malts are all evident in the taste. Actually becomes more sour mid-glass.
The mouth is sturdy and yeoman like. Low carbonation and silky smoothness add to the enjoyment.
It was a rare 88 degree day in Duluth, so this hit the spot.
