Bought and consumed in Uvita, CR. This beer had a great malt profile that had lots of caramel and brown sugar sweetness on top of a vanilla and slightly smoky note. The beer avoids becoming too sweet with a light profile that makes it more drinkable and less cloying than many other Scottish Ales. I would definitely see this out again.

one of the lightest examples of this style i have ever seen, ever, and that was true of so many craft beers in costa rica, not matter who the producer, they seem to do them up light on purpose. this one is nice from the tap, foamy and clear and easy, bubbly and delicate for a style we normally think of as more sturdy than this by a longshot. we like the malty base, european and rich for its lightness, but also kind of bland compared to the better exampled of the style, and it smells and tastes a little dumbed down. almost irish in a sense, less smoked and more baked or cooked, caramelized and nice, but less complex and layered than these usually are. in the context of the hot and wet local climate, i can see this being appealing as a craft beer that has some taste but goes down easy, however, it almost seems stripped of any real scottish ale elements, and its a little weak for me overall. that said, its the only beer in this style we saw our whole time in costa rica, and its hard to be critical of something nobody else is doing. i liked some of their other flavors better, but at the same time, this is one of the only scottish types i could drink by the mug all day, and there is something to be said for that right???

This was the best of the first five crafts beers i tried in Costa Rica; though i am partial to this style. Definitely not the best, but still good. Very nice color. I liked the red by this brewery too, it was my second fav. Got them all in bottles at auto Mercado in Alajuela.

I got it at vindi. Nice logo of the Malacrianza serial killer bull on label. The color is a really deep amber with some red hues if you get it close to direct light. I don't think I have much to say about the aromas, but once you drink it, it has a very solid malty character all the way to the end, with some caramel and smokiness. You can taste a tad of alcohol at the end but is not bad. I think this would be my second favorite option from CRC after Segua.
Very good beer.
