12 oz. Can
Canned On: 100517
ABV: 5.4%
Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice dark yellowish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice one-finger plus white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, grassy/wheaty, with some spices, kinda lemony. The taste is malty, yeasty, grassy/wheaty, spicy, lemony. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely. Overall, a nice little brew.

12 oz. can poured into a willibecher.
A- Pale gold, semi-hazy. White head, retention isn't great.
S- Stone fruit, spice, more malty than a typical saison. Grainy bread notes.
T- Light, not too spicy, and slightly fruity.
M- Medium light body. Spicy.
O- Nothing stands out as awesome in this one. Drinkable, and in a can, so I can pound one on the lift.

its getting harder and harder for random american saison to impress me. everyone wants in on the style, and i think its getting easier to pick the good ones from the less good ones. this isnt bad at all, its well made beer, but it lacks the depth and nuance and overall quality of the best examples of the style. fermenting a wheat beer with a canned saison strain does not usually yield good beer in and of itself, which is what it seems like they have done here. nothing wrong with the beer, but its just not at that high level. hazy and light, airy white head, looks nice in a pint glass from the can. smells spicy, more than others, less belgian more viniferous and french style. pepper and a floral element too. the nose and taste are the same, light wheat malt base and then the spicy quality of the yeast, with little else going on. easy drinking and incredibly well carbonated. i like that feature the best. an enjoyable couple of beers, especially considering its an affordable can of craft beer in vail village! good to see bonfire still experimenting, but this is a reach i think for them. good not great.

Welp, a skiing reference I can’t possibly appreciate, but it’s a Saison in a can which is a concept far better than presliced bread.
Pours a clear amber with thin white head, splotches of lace slide down the glass. Smell: bready, lightly fruity and floral… smells like they threw saison yeast at a pile of pale + pils malts. Nothing else happening. Taste: much the same here but with a substantial blast of coriander. It's not great, but I can't object too much to this approach. If this was a local 6 pack option for me, I'd be happy!
