After almost three years of rest on Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey oak, Swamp Stacks re-emerges here in Broussard donning its superior barrel-aged form, now in smaller and more convenient 500mL bottles. Our collab with @greatnotion is a mashup of our Shades and Great Notion’s Stacks series. This 13% monster imperial stout is dosed post-barrel with Marshmallows, Graham Cracker, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla, Maple Syrup and a dash of Cinnamon. Like s’mores by the fireside, BA Swamp Stacks is perfect for the coming winter weather.

This was a 2023 bottle - very dark and very thick; poured like a cross between maple syrup and melted ice cream. Nose is maple, something I could best describe as s’mores?, and more maple. My first thought on tasting was “too sweet”, but I think that was just a gut reaction — it’s sweet, but really good - given the adjuncts sweetness should be expected. Very smooth, probably due to the barrel. I love this beer, despite noticing neither the vanilla nor the barrel (both of which I enjoy). And as it warms up some of the other flavors (coconut, Graham cracker) are really coming out. I suspect most folks will either love this one or hate it; I’m happily in the former group.

Super dark like crude oil or ink. Could not create a head. Not sure if it lost it's carbonation or did not have any to begin with, however that did not take away from this beer.
Nose is chocolate and maple syrup. Possibly coconut, ever so slightly. Taste was very sweet, almost too sweet for my liking, however it was good. Chocolate and coconut flavors initially, then the bourbon comes across with flavor and warmth. Very good
Update: I spoke with the brewery, the lack of carbonation is intentional.

Tastes like Tart of Darkness with some maple and coffee. The tartness is overwhelming and while not unpleasant, clearly not what was intended. Off flavors galore.
