A stout with an oatmeal twist to give an unusual creaminess. A touch of sweetness combined with the coffee-like roasted barley flavors reminds many people of a coffee-and-cream. Our version adds a small, but definitely present, hop character making it a bit unusual (and tasty!) for beers of this style.

On tap into a pint glass
A - Frothy tan head that is thin and dissipates slowly. Pitch black beer with caramel goldness around the edges of the glass. 4.25/5
S - Dark toasted bread is the first aroma to hit my nose. This is followed by a caramel sweetness and dark chocolate. There is even a bit of vanilla present as well. 4/5
T - Dark toasted bread transitions to a caramel sweetness but it is a sweetness that is not overly sweet. Dark chocolate and vanilla show up in the middle of the tasting. Ever so slight leatheriness after the chocolate which is followed by an espresso bitterness on the back end. 3.75/5
M - Very creamy and chewy in the front and middle. Drying astringency to the back third of the tasting. Very low carbonation and very heavy throughout. Dryness lightens things up a bit on the back end. 4/5
O - Well balanced beer between the espresso/dark chocolate bitterness and the sweet caramel. The earthy/leatheriness throws me a bit but other than that this is an interesting beer that is a bit more dry than most oatmeal stouts. 4/5

A - Opaque, dark brown to black, reddish highlights, with a light tan head that is a bit rocky. Fades slowly, to a thin layer. Big lacing leaves extensive patterning on the glass.
S - Roasted grains, with a bit of hop in the form of grass and a slight snap of pine.
T - Big splash of coffee and chocolate notes, followed with a surprisingly strong hop note, floral and grass, closing with the bitter elements of both the hop and roast mingling in a trailing line.
M - This is where an oatmeal stout can really sing, and this is an admirable aspect. The beer is full and luscious, with significantly more body than a typical stout at this ABV. The hops, though present, do not build.
O - A very solid rendition of the oatmeal stout, with a good hit of hops adding another layer. I'd like the roast elements at the start of the flavor to stick around a bit longer, but this is a good, easy drinker.
