Poured out of a growler into my Duvel tulip.

A – Darkish colored caramel cola brown pour. One finger of bubbly tan head that settles down to a nice cover.

S – Nice roasty aroma. Caramel malts. Pick up some fruit smell. Almost oakey.

T – Big rich malty, roasty taste right off the bat. Sweet caramel. Toffee. Fruity and bready as well. Nice balanced flavors.

M – Medium bodied and very smooth. Crisp and clean with a bit drying at the finish.

O – I really enjoyed the taste and complexity of this brew. I have not had a great deal of ESB to compare but this one was fine and went down smooth. Very drinkable.

* Reviewer is a total homer for Matt and his TBC brews. He suggests you get some and judge for yourself.

Poured from a TBC growler into a British pint.

Appearance - When poured from the growler, it had a substantial off-white head. It hung around for a while and left a nice bit of lacing. The body is a fairly clear deep amber with reddish hues.

Smell - There's an interesting woody smell to it. Very earthy malts and some toffee. Smells like an ESB!

Taste - More complex than the smell. A creamy, malty base with an earthy, woody taste. It starts with some toffee flavors that aren't sweet, which is nice. It finishes with a nice bitterness.

Mouthfeel - The creaminess right after the initial hop and malt flavors is right on point for an ESB. It is a bit heavy, though. At 6%, it's one big ESB. Tasty, though.

Overall - The only concern I have is how strong it is. It's a very big ESB. Very strong flavors and a bit heavy. Otherwise, a very authentic tasting ESB.
