On tap at the brewpub in Portland.
paler yellow color, little head
nice malty nose with some funk
sessionable, well-balanced, not in your face with brett
brett present but mild (nice change than over the top other brett beers)

Tap at the tasting room in Portland.

Bright but hazy golden yellow darker color, thick creamy head, nice lacing.

Nose mild grainy wheat, cracker notes, mild barnyard Brett in the background, fruity notes, light malt, touch lemony.

Taste starts with a little sweet malts, toasted wheat, grainy, little raw dough, nice Brett barnyard funk, some toasted oak and little buttery oak, hint citrus and fruity esters, candy notes, lemony funk in the background. Finish sticky little flemmy, mild Brett funk, fruity lemony notes lingering too, dry but sticky.

Mouth med to lighter bod, nice carb, little sticky.

what a radically delicious beer. it has so much going on, yet such a low abv and light body, i think grisette might be the most underrated (and indeed most under produced) style in all of beer. a real cool example here, as i understand the style, there is usually a lot of cool grains, spelt and rye and oats and wheat and all. not sure exactly what goes into this one, but it has a high degree of clarity for what it is, and a lot of spice to it, both from grain and yeast. this is the first one i have had with any sort of caramel color to it at all, i mean, it still looks like a rich pale ale, but there is a copper glow to it instead of a muted wheaty beige. there is a flavor of rye malt in here for sure, a light grainy heat, a twang if you will, very smooth, but assertive in taste, a cool malt to say the least. the yeast though is what makes this interesting. it is funky for sure, but its not a saison and doesnt have a familiar brett profile. instead its almost acidic like a berliner or something, but still yeasty, more fermented than done on the front end, and really hard to place. i get lemons, but this isnt a light and citrusy beer even though its low abv, its grainy to its core, cereals and layers of nebraska summer. dont know how else to describe it. nothing like this out there, on tap at trinity, apparently leftover from their saison fest which i which i attended now. this was a real treat. to all the brewers of the world, more grisette please!!!
