Had at the brewery in SE Portland, OR
Pours an unassuming hazy-yellow color with a brilliant white head that has real staying power. One could easily mistake this for just another solid farmhouse ale from a top-notch producer.
However, oh boy, oh boy, is this anything but ordinary. Billed as a farmhouse ale brewed with rustic grains, lemon peel, and grains of paradise, the finished product more closely resembles some sort of old-vine sparkling Grenache Blanc/Macabeo from a fantastic producer in the Roussillon area like Matassa or Gauby, or even a great producer from the Priorat like Ester Nin. Super fragrant and minerally with white peach and spice for days. ***Wine nerds should definitely seek out this brew***
Shows fantastic purity on the palate with plush fruit before a crisp and citrusy finish. This beer is a revelation. The best I had at Commons during this visit.
