A sumptuous imperial stout loaded with notes of chocolate, coffee and deeply roasted barley. This beer is brewed as a showcase for Dandelion Chocolate‘s amazing cocoa nibs.
Roasted in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District, we pick single origin nibs for each batch that will highlight the complexity of chocolate combined with beer. Aromas of red fruit, espresso and cocoa powder intermingle with the base beer to form something new, complex and deeply indulgent.
Enjoy this winter sipper with chocolate desserts featuring Dandelion’s chocolate, or alongside chicken mole or BBQ beef brisket to explore it’s more savory side.

this is the side of almanac we get to see so infrequently here, so its awesome to have a non-sour on from them in town. its a milky chocolatey stout, big and rich, but it hides it booze well, and stays toward the dark chocolate side of the spectrum. no shine to the look of it, and lighter brown in shade than others. the head is bubbly and thick, lasting and leaving hanging lace. it smells like cocoa powder, melted dark chocolate for dipping, and then a whole bunch of different dark grains, roasted barley obviously, but some specialty stuff in here too, midnight wheat perhaps. its plenty full bodied, and the various chocolate notes cling to ever bit of it, but its not sticky or sweet, its just lathery in expansive and huge. the alcohol is never really a factor, and there is a nice earthy soil sort of property to the finish, maybe something to do with the yeast, but i have rarely tasted it. exceptional beer on the whole, just delicious. i think the proportion of chocolate flavor to beer character is really well done, not too much but undeniable, right where i like it.

It's not bad, but just generally unimpressive. Kinda brief flavors. Tad
