This is NOT a kettle sour! Introducing Blueberry Sournova, the first in our stellar new Sournova series of 16oz cans. This naturally conditioned, mixed-culture sour ale was aged for months with real blueberries in oak barrels creating a delightfully tart and refreshing brew.

Pint-sized can - Canned on 10/02/18:
Pours deep pink. A thin fizzy head disappears. Little lacing.
The smell is tart - a little funky. Oak gives a vanilla touch. Blueberries present but not overwhelming or dominating.
The taste follows the nose - refreshingly tart. Oak gives a vanilla touch. Blueberries enhance tartness. Sweettart finish.
Effervescent light to medium body. Easy to drink. An enjoyable brew.

I really like this one. Mildly tart, and pretty dry. Let it warm a tad - there's layers and nuances to be enjoyed. Well worth a try.

16oz can, snifter glass. Cloudy lighter medium pink body, slight orange-ish hue, one finger white head, short retention, not much lacing. Smell is a bit of oak, sourdough, a bit of leather, lemon, blueberry skin, mild acetic tartness, touch of pink lemonade. Flavour follows, a bit of pink lemonade along with blueberry skin and a mild acetic tartness. Sweet blueberry fruit and a bit of yeasty sourdough, light lemon and a touch of leathery funk. Solid. Mouthfeel is medium lighter bodied, good carbonation, very drinkable, not too sour but a fair bit of blueberry on the palate.

I pour it, I like it. It looks sexy. I put my beak in for a sniff, I’m ambivalent. It smells average. I take a sip, I’m crestfallen. It’s kind of lackluster. Ima call this one the Anti Jane Russell beer - large and in charge this one is not. It’s just kind of ‘there’. And in a time when just “being there” isn’t all that good of a thing.
I say let’s move on from here.
