super tasty summery brew right here, as modern as this style gets, done with cara cara oranges, blood oranges, and tangerines, along with way more hops than any german ever puts in one of these, mosaic and el dorado, supremely interesting and still drinking fresh and bright and compelling despite being canned back in may. been awhile since i had anything from these guys, dont really know them for this sort of thing, but its great beer for warm weather. a little haze to it, high headed, ring lacing, high carbonation, good looks on this, until the very bottom of the can when i accidentally rouse some chunky sediment that had settled out in the can, mucks this up a bit. i smell the sweet blood orange in front of the other citrus, and the mosaic in front of the el dorado, still somewhat recognizable as a kolsch though with the pils malt pushing through and a little something snappy and doughy from the yeast, not too sweet either with the fruit which is nice. spritzy brew with good balance between the light malt and the oranges, it pops and the proportions are great. the hops add some nice bitterness to the finish but so do the essential oils of the citrus. its maybe a little soapy and less crisp as it warms, but in addition to being all jazzed up, this is also technically quite good beer underneath the frills. thoughtful, cohesive, and well executed, also mighty refreshing. nice.
