Pours a muddy deep burgundy with a finger of khaki foam. It's more fizz than foam. Aroma is deep toasty, caramel, and earthy malts. Spice, whiskey, barrel, and char all develop heat and complexity, with a glazing of sweet molasses over the top. Mouth feel is toasty and caramely malts with big fig, toffee, raisins, dates, and some dark fruits developing the storyline of each sip. Some late resin hops adds some late stickiness, and contrast to the malts. Whiskey adds a swell of heat at the finish, but not enough to be hot. Mouth feel is thick with some grittiness in the middle and late stickiness to the texture. Overall, depth is stellar, while remaining focused. It's got a lot of pieces going on, but never feels overly busy.
