This is a really cool craft establishment in the heart of Denver's hip neighborhoods. The beer selection was phenomenal as it was GABF week. The staff is very friendly, accommodating considering the crazy crowds, and the food is amazingly delicious!

This has become a must-stop for me. Cheap and tasty pizza, good specials and happy hour deals and a good selection of beers on tap.

If it's available, try their beer cheese soup. You can't go wrong with the slices here either. Flights are a good call if you can't decide from the beer menu. Prices are fair.

I suspect I'll always make a stop here when in Denver.

The beer is only out shined by the people! All the food is amazing, so freaking good. Take a step away from the pie and try their sandwiches, you will not be disappointed. On Saturday before 5 o' clock get 3 beers and 2 slices for a mere $16 such a deal.

Great location and great food. Service can be sometimes slow when it's crowded (which it often is) but the beer selection is always incredible. Approximately 20-25 taps or so and bottles as well. Pizza is killer and local lunch special is always worth the price. Incredible value if you can tolerate the wait. Tennyson area has a great vibe too if you can ignore all the hipster/bros.

Always a great place for a great pie and an awesome tap list. Be prepared to wait a while for a table for dinner, especially on the weekend. Start out here for lunch and hit the other breweries in the area.

A great little place in a cool area in Denver. I wish I hadn't just had breakfast before going here. The tap list wasn't huge but it has quality and the service was excellent. Worth a stop.

Went to Hops & pie for Sour Fest on March 28th.

Awesome place. They moved through a line quickly to get us in the door. Great service, good pizza, and great beer.

Cantillon on tap amongst other world class sours. Also had Parabola and Alpine Duet on tap.

Love this place. Great craft beer selection on rotation. Lots of local brews with a strong selection from other states. The pizza is very good. The sandwiches are tasty. But the surprise winner is the tacos, sooo good. Get there early because its small and gets busy with a quickness.

A good place to check out when in Denver. They have a fairly lengthy tap and bottle/can list with many of the local favorites you otherwise couldn't get outside of Denver.
The atmosphere was typical of a craft beer place, and with a bar area and a regular seating area.
The food was good and made from scratch. Definitely worth a trek outside of the downtown area.

Not only is their taplist awesome and constantly rotating, their pizza is downright amazing. Only downside is they are too popular for their size and waits can get pretty long at times.

This place is simply amazing. The pizza is awesome and the beer selection has to be one of the best in Denver. Had the pleasure of ordering a Firestone Walker XVIII last night. Never expected to see that beer on a menu and what a treat it was! Had to wait maybe 20 minutes for a table at around 8:00 on a Thursday, not bad in my opinion. There were plenty of spots opening up at the bar too. Highly recommended.

The only reason Hops & Pie doesn't earn a five-star rating from me is because it's so small, that it's often a pain in the ass to get a seat at the bar or a table; otherwise, they certainly have a top two rotating tap list in all of Denver.

Their food is insanely good. They have a weekly special sandwich, which is always top-notch, and their brisket sandwich is great.

Staff is pretty knowledgeable and very friendly. This is always the first or second destination I take out of town beer lovers.

Went here with a friend while we were in town for the Great American Beer Festival. We were both extremely impressed. Abby was our server and the service was fantastic. I can't speak to their tap list all of the time but during GABF week when we were in town Hops & Pie's tap list rivaled anywhere else in the city. The Artisan Pie of the week that we ordered was so good we put down the whole thing. Needless to say. anytime I'm back in Denver I'll be making a stop here. If only there was one where I lived.

Consecration on draft? With amazing pizza as well? How can you lose?

Hot chicks, great beer and excellent food makes for a winning combo. The lines can be brutal is the only downside.

I feel lucky to live so close to this place. They have a great bar, friendly staff, and excellent deals throughout the week. They feature a slice and a soup of the day, and sandwich of the week, and a pie of the month - definitely worth trying - and their menu regulars are reliable and tasty. They serve the best BLT that I have ever had! Expect it to be busy on weekends and on Wednesdays, which is their $2 craft can night. Use the wait time to peruse nearby shops on Tennyson.

I will start with: I live 2 blocks from Hops & Pie.
It is my neighborhood place.
20+ beers on tap and the selection rotates continuously. They print a new beer menu every day (except Mondays when they are closed).
The Beer Club is an excellent value as one visit per month will justify it. Especially on Sundays when it is: 3rd beer free.
The food is great. Pizza, sandwiches to die for, mac & cheese.
I have always have great service. But, then, they know my name.

i was there with my brother. we sat and ordered our beer, that came promptly. The food however took a long time; at least 30 min. from when we ordered. It was not that busy for a lunch and pizza should not take that long to come out.

The beer selection was good and i hope to return to try more taps.

the food was good despite the delay. I would maybe like to see different house pizzas rather then the one special and then a list of choose it yourself options. That being said, good food, good beer, like the atmosphere.

Went with friends for a late lunch on a Friday.

A: Good, but nothing special.

Q: Again, good but nothing special.

S: Service was quick and courteous.

S: While they specialize in pizza + beer, they also have sandwiches, salads, and snacks. On the menu, they only have a daily slice and a single pizza-of-the-day, but you can build your own to order and the topping selection is quite good.

The beer selection will vary, and in my case, actually got better compared to earlier in the day. A number of kegs had kicked, so they put on some (imo) tastier things. They also offer reasonably priced 3oz samples of their beers.

F: One of the better California/Colorado-style pizzas I've had. The toppings were generous and the crust was just the right balance of crispy and fluffy.

V: The beers were reasonably priced, but the pizza can get quite expensive if you build your own.

O: If I lived nearby, this place would definitely be a staple.

I have been going here since they opened. Great food, great owners and the best and in my opinion the best curated taps in Denver. Look out for their "biggest" little beer fest and tap take overs. Pizza is great but mac n cheese and sandwiches are not to be missed.

A - Loved the atmosphere of the place! Primarily because they give you the option of sitting on the bar side or a dining side. Wife and I sat bar side and had a great time chatting with the bartender/waitress.

Q - Everything was very solid. Nothing truly exceptional, but all very good.

S - Everyone was very friendly to us. Nobody went out of their way to provide us with any great service, but again very good.

S - Great selection for a pizza place. Probably, 15-20 taps and an entire binder of bottle options. Primarily local stuff, but as a visitor to Denver, that is exactly what I was looking for out of their selection.

F - Food was very good. One of the better pizza places we've been to in our travels.

Overall, a nice little spot in Denver. We were glad the people at Crooked Stave recommended it to us. We would definitely be regulars here, if we lived in the Denver area.

Visited 6/23/2013, 8:00 - 9:30pm

Despite looming dark grey clouds, bellies full of the days food & beer and a strong desire to "just stay-in" at our downtown Denver hotel, my wife and decided to venture out this past Sunday to Hops & Pie. We wanted something casual and "neighborhood", not a "see & be seen" trendy place like we'd visited the previous nights - H&P fit the bill.

We arrived to lighting flashes and rolling thunder and a 15 minute wait for a table, but once seated we were happy with the spot in the front window counter, just beside the main entrance. It's a small but friendly spot, with wooden floors and trim and mostly monochromatic blacks & whites, save for some colorful local artwork on the walls. The space is split in half, with a bar to the left and a quieter dining room (where we were) to the right.

True to the name, the menu features mostly beer and pizza - what else? It didn't take long for us to decide on the June "Pie of the Month" ($21) a thinnish but crispy crust covered in herbed ricotta, wild mushrooms, pickled red onions, fried capers and smoked Scottish salmon, topped with sprouts and shaved cucumber. Neither of us had ever had a pizza quite like it; the flavor is both unforgettable and crave-able! Many other pizza choices cover two pages of the menu, but we were very glad to have chosen this one.

Beers are listed on a single 20-tap page (dated "6/23/2013 2pm", though 2 options had been stamped "KICKED" in red ink) + a hand pull, split about evenly between locals like Odell, Dry Dock, Upslope, Crooked Stave and Avery and some out-of-staters like Firestone Walker, Green Flash, North Coast and Dogfish Head. Lots of bigger beers (7%+), but my mood was for a bit lighter and hoppy - I picked the Strange Brewing "house beer", called "Hops & pIePA". A pint was $5.50. Other pours ranged from $5-7, but quite a few are only 10 oz., due to their higher gravities, so be sure to pay attention to the menu when ordering.

The beer choices being good and the pizza being delicious and filling, our only complaint was service. Although "Jenny" is listed on the receipt, I'm pretty sure we had 4 or 5 servers throughout the hour+ we were seated. Although none were unfriendly, there was a curt efficiency that kept chat to a minimum and kind of made us feel rushed once the pie arrived (yes, it was nearing 9pm - closing time - but the place was still more than half full). Maybe I'm being petty, but service was just OK...

Liked the place overall (again, I'll have dreams about that delicious pizza!) and would be happy to return and recommend it.

Great spot. Nice specialty brew on tap. Crazy food. One of the bartenders was cute but in a mood. Other than that, this is a must stop. Local spot, windows, cool pics on the wall, paintings, Irish music. Bartender started to cheer up after an hour. Nice Denver spot.

The guy at Crooked Stave told me about this place. Now I am telling you. STOP HERE! THis place rocks. Great beer selection, including some crooked stave kegs not found elsewhere. But lots of great taps, oh and the pizza is awesome. You know it is like fancier pizza, but not too fancy where you feel like a rich asshole eating it. Its very good and you can buy it by the slice if you just need one between high ABV beers.

Stopped in with my wife a few weeks back. Sat at the bar and had a great experience. The bartenders know their beer, and if you ask for the bottle binder they get you started in the right place. The tap list was extensive and impressive but we saw Big Bad Baptist on the bottle list and went with it. The pizza was huge and really tasty; probably the best I've had in Denver. Super fresh ingredients and a great selection of toppings. The service was awesome through the whole meal. When the bill came I was shocked how inexpensive it was. I can't think of a better value for the dollar in Denver. I can't recommend Hops & Pie enough, I just wish I lived closer.

Nice well lit place ( soon to grow larger with the addition of the building next door). The service is fast (consideing how packed it can be) and knowledgeable. The quality of the beers is excellent as most are 5 gallon kegs and rotated regularly. The selection is great with 22 taps and about the same number of bottles if not more. The food is good especially the pizza. Very reasonably priced especially for the neighborhood and a good place to visit all around. Now if they would just get rid of the TVs so I can enjoy my beer on Sunday without all the football nuts crowding in!
