July 8th, 2015 - The euphoria of my visit to Crooked Stave winds down with the last taster of Sin Frontera. Per description, this is an artisan ale aged in sherry, and it does indeed look a bit darker, taking on a woody brown quality. But even the small dose in the glass projects a powerful aroma, with huge tawny port notes. And the flavor tastes like beer and port had a drunken one night stand. The aftertaste is almost as unique and refined, with a carbonated sherry finish. It is a blend of beasts, stitched together in a mad laboratory, but the resulting chimera is shockingly good.

Bottle is from dec. 2014. Sherry barrel is noticeable. Dry, sweet, tart. An awesomely executed sour beer. Brett, horse blanket, slight oxidation, grape-y. Well done!
