a neat blend that they put together with the falling rock guys, reddish in color and obviously raspberry driven, but there is a lot of nuance here, and this ends up tasting to me far more mature and complex than a lot of the wild beers happening over at crooked stave right now. it has a fruity sweetness to it for sure, raspberry forward but also warm cherry and even cranberry notes, with plenty of wood and a nice layered wild yeast funkiness to it, not overly sour but right on, and tasting kind of strong, although i dont know what base beers are in the blend, it feels bigger than many of theirs. i even get a slight cocoa thing with the wood, almost charred, there is a lower end here and its nice against the sweet tangy acidic raspberry frontage. it has a valentines day vibe too, sweet and red and fancy. i like the older beer in the blend, lambic-esque in the nose and finish, and old worldy for a crooked stave beer. these guys have once again stagnated a little for me, gotten way out ahead of themselves on price points, and generally have fallen below some other local wild ale producers now, but this is a reminder why they are also still the best, and famous for a reason. not sure what the falling rock guys contributed, but suffice it to say crooked stave may not have perfected this blend like this without their influence. the fruit is just right in here, and its a mighty impressive little one off! get some while its still on at falling rock!
