#800!!!
Looking back through my other 100s, most of the time I didn't realize I was reaching the milestone. But I consciously picked out something special-ish this time and going forward plan on doing something big for when I reach these milestones.
Bought at Hazel's in Boulder, CO for ~$22 for a 750 mL bottle. 2017 vintage, bottle 172 of 555. The label is ecstatic and texturally pleasing. I wanted to check this beer out because I am saving a 2015 OG version of this beer to drink with a buddy and I wanted a preview. Paired with some chocolates.
A&S: The beer is a hickory brown (and turns lighter on the last pour) with a fizzy tan head. The head pours a thin layer and surprisingly, even though the head fizzes out quickly, there are specks of head always remaining. Aroma contains of course raspberries, but also contains oak and raisins.
T&M: Very sour and very acidic, a little too much so. The ~4 years have not toned that down. Tons of raspberries. Other flavors include tart cherries, oak, and plum. I am not getting any chocolate. No sweetness. The finish is slightly vinegary. Drinkability is a little low due to the heavy acidic tones. This one is definitely a sharer. The carbonation feel is similar to the look, very sharp and stingy. The body is medium and slides closer to full as the bottle is drained.
Overall: A little too straightforward. It's a solid beer, nothing mind-blowing, but worth the price.
