this is my favorite of these so far i think, such a nice showcase of this grape, immediately takes me to the wine it yields, and is dark and rich and nuanced, not too sour, and with a great maturity to it for a beer that has only recently beer released. this is some of the better crooked stave beer i have had in a long time, this whole series is! darker in color than the cab franc i had alongside it, more purple, less pink, dense color saturation, short head, beautiful beer in the glass. the nose and taste are totally driven by the fruit, even in front of the yeast. tannic and tart, but not real sour, less sour than the others, and with a somewhat lesser funkiness to, but no leas mature to me. i love the intensity of the fruit, its summery and oddly foreign to me, like takes me to italy or something. this reminds me of some syrah wines i have had which is what it probably should do. it also has a neat fuller body to it, minerals and earth, soil even, terroir, more here than in the others and i like that a lot. still not much grain flavor at all, but i dont really miss it. light pucker and off dry to finish, excellent carbonation also adds to its regal nature. awesome beer overall, really incredible and unique really, i hope they keep this member berries series going, some of their strongest work for sure!
