Dark Sour Ale Aged in Leopold Bros Whiskey Barrels Finished in Port Barrels on Raspberries
A demonic dark sour, Nightmare on Brett takes on many facets during its transformation to the dark side. Dominated by dark fruit aromas and flavors, the underlying cacao notes meld with an acidic tart berry finish. This one-off release is double barrel aged in Port barrels. The barrel characteristics really shine through in this Dark Sour Ale. We then added 450 lbs of Washington raspberries to finish with an incredible fruit-forward complexity.

Poured as a dark reddish brown color with a thin tan head on top. The raspberry and funk smack you in the nose and the mouth upon first whiff and sip. After becoming a bit more acclimated to the beer the flavors start to come together a little better and it becomes less aggressive. The feel is medium bodied with a sharp carbonation. Overall it's a pretty good sour even though I'm not totally into dark wild ales too much.
