Pours VERY dark in color. Head was super dark like burnt hot chocolate..best I can describe. Nose is extra roasted coffee beans. Taste is coffee and chocolate, but not much coconut. Very smooth drinking beer.
For reference I tried this in 2023, was canned in 2020

Back of the fridge discovery. Canned date is 3/5/20. 16oz can poured into a snifter.
A: Pitch black with a solid couple fingers of persistent brown head. Thin rings of lacing.
S: Mostly fudgey with some blackstrap molasses in the mix. Coconut shaving and toasted coconut pull to the forefront with repeated whiffs. Coffee has faded, I imagine, but there's some nutty bean notes left. Slight whiffs of darkfruit.
T: Fudge sauce up front, followed by a wave of woody roast. Espresso-like bitterness tells me the coffee is still kicking. Some earthy hops. Toasted coconut. Flashes of darkfruit and a just a lite bit of oxidation coming through. Finishes with nutty coffee and some hop bitterness.
M: Very rich, thick, and heavy in the mouth. Creamy texture. Round, firm, and mildly coating. Gently trickling carbonation.
O: One I meant to get around to a long time ago, but forgot about. It held up well enough and was most enjoyable, but would have undoubtedly popped better when fresh. I'd expect more coffee and less oxidation when younger. Awesome body and texture here, and I appreciate how well-balanced the coconut is in particular. A really fine dessert beer.

Deep brown black, foamy mocha head, somewhat viscous. Smoothing coconut and chocolatey malt complement coffee bitterness, full body, slightly chewy. All around a solid offering, at the price point may be a pass for some.

A- Tallboy pours a deep midnight black brew into a becher. The head peaks at a finger high and it is really, really dark brown with good retention. The frothy foamy head leaves a few webs of lacing as well as some sheets.
S- Coffee, coconut and chocolate and you could almost leave it at that from first glance. Notes of roast barley, toffee, fudge, moderate sweetness, cocoa nibs, toast and an interesting peppery syrupy hint that reminds of Bourbon somehow. But yea, mostly the aforementioned trio.
T- The coconut is very strong yet again and even a bit more than the aroma but interestingly it isn't that dessert forward flavor profile but a more toasty, woodsy and earthy coconut flavor profile. A heavy bitterness is present throughout and at times it does feel a bit acrid. The coffee comes next alongside strong cocoa, chocolate and fudgey notes joined by deep roast barley, toasted nuts, chocolate malt, vanilla sweets, brownie, espresso and malted milk ball notes.
MF- Medium-heavy bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Puffy and somewhat creamy texture and it ends just assertively bitter.
The aroma is spot on with the balance of coconut, coffee, chocolate and grains. The flavor is a tad overly bitter but still has an amazing, deep coconut flavor. Calm that bitterness and this could be a special one.

Tropical with the generous use of coconut, yet robust with the heavy influence of coffee from the stout, Crooked Stave takes a darker twist on the tropics.
Jet black and rounded with a rich mocha lather, Coconut Coffee Stout swoons the nose with all-things espresso, toasted coconut, kahlua spice, tropical fruit, dark chocolate and roasted walnut. Generous with its sweetness, a malty taste of burnt sugars, vanilla cream, burnt toffee and nougat early and often on the tastebuds.
Full flavored and favoring the roast, the sweetness slowly begins to drift and a fruitiness of pineapple and orange peel accompany the beer's underlying burnt toast, dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate and candied walnut. Trending burnt and creamy at the same time, the taste concludes with a light ash flavor and a hint of bitter mesquite.
Full bodied as well, the beer's robust taste is met with equally robust textures and an arid nougat roast emerges and carries the taste into a long, lightly smoky aftertaste with hints of spiced rum in a simmering, extended warmth on the finish.

Super smooth stout that pours an oily, viscous, black with a quickly fading head. Nice aroma of coconut without that sourness you get sometime. The flavors of the base stout, the coconut, and the coffee are seamlessly integrated, and make for a velvety smooth sip. No way this tastes like 9.5%!

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of toasted coconut, coffee and chocolate. Nice mild coconut taste with toasted caramel, roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
