Cocktail tart Margarita. Fun stuff enough to crush it, after a hot day. On tap at The Mayor in CO.Good experimental differential for Crooked Stave to do.

Clear, just slightly hazy straw color, tight white head. Pretty good retention.
Big sour and funky, citrusy aroma.
Bip pop of sourness upfront, medium plus sourness, Crooked Stave's distinctively funky mixed culture yeast/bacteria. Mildew, barnyard, fruit vinegar. Crisp and gentle wheat malt. Lime and orange zest shine on the back end. Light - medium-light salinity elicits salivation. Nice lingering sour fruity funky finish.
Really great funky margarita gose. Highly recommended. Would happily purchase again.

heady new packaging on this, on a lot of their stuff, looks super good, ive been out of the loop on these guys for too long, a mistake i will try not to make again, and for all the ups and downs with them over the years, they remains one of the best makers of funky beer anywhere, and we should all not only accept that, but rejoice in it, having beer this good around is a blessing. this is a fun one for summer. there was a time when kettle sours tried to make themselves look like wild beer, and its funny that this one sort of does the opposite, they just say sour ale on the can, but its misleading because this is bretty and funky and more mixed fermentation than kettle sour to me, i love the subtle funk and complexity, it makes this a thousand times more interesting than most of these, and even though its the margarita character that will define this for most drinkers, its the yeasts that define it for me, so crooked stave, so good! lime, salt, and orange zest in this, super summery, juicy, dry, layers of white wine, stone fruit, and peppy citrus, not very sour either, more of just a tang to it, farmy funk, minerals, white wheat, simple build it seems. the lime leads the way but the orange makes it pop, both very natural, the salt is moderate until it warms up, then its mineral forward and as much of a taste as a texture thing, kind of cool. this might be done in stainless, i dont know, but i still get a subtle wood element, almost like some barrel aged wild beer was blended in, a small amount, but to me the complexity suggests it, could be reading too much into it, but there is a maturity to this brett that seems at odds with the freshness and brightness of the rest of the drink, not at flavor odds, its super cohesive, but like in terms of process. way cool. this is subtly amazing, summery and mass appeal sure, but this is like really nuanced saison at its core, so refined, i love it. the packaging is sharp as heck too, one of my favorite beers from a very beery weekend. so awesome to drink a bunch of new crooked stave stuff after not being able to score any for a couple years. still the kings.
