750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. A 2023 release, had 1/24/24.
Pours an opaque dark brown, with a half inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Smells tart and somewhat sour. Aromas of chocolate, blackberries, malt, some plum, light whiskey, light vanilla and oak. Tastes tart and sour. Flavors of blackberries, chocolate, malt, some whiskey, some vanilla and plum, some oak. Smooth, a very good medium body, well carbonated.
Was great to be able to try this variant. The blackberries shine throughout and it’s the same great base as the couple of other variants I’ve had. The sourness ratchets up as it warms, but it’s comfortable. Less of a barrel presence than the others, but it’s sufficient. Really enjoyable.

Love the series, honestly it is the premiere brett beer series. But how did blackberry added go? Black opaque body, brown head. Aromas of blackberry first and foremost, with brett, tobacco, dark oak, molasses, and sour balsamic vinegar. Taste is like the original but not as bretty, more punchy with dark fruits enhanced compared to the nose, vinegar is bigger too. Feel is sour and slightly acidic, funk from the brett is felt more than it was tasted, but still milder than the original. I liked this variant as a fruity change up

ive always loved this base beer and its variants, so i was stoked to see this when we were in. i think this dark funky base lends itself super well to heavy fruiting, and jammy real blackberries hit just right. i always for get this is as strong as it is too, a creeper for sure. dark but not too viscous pour, some deep purple notes at the edges are evident in natural light, and just a lazy head on it, a few bubbles popping here and there, almost no retention. the nose and taste are strikingly complex and distinctive, its real sour and my mouth waters right away, but the funk factor is high too, a ton of oaken maturity, a hint of vanilla, dark cocoa and roast from the grain, but for me this is all about the fruit nuance, blackberry sure, but also things like plum and prune, port wine, and black cherry exist in this, some tobacco, smoke, and fig or raisin or something a little sweet and dried in it. light spiciness, even black pepper in all of the fermentation uniqueness, and its long finishing from the complexity but also its dry for what it is. a little alcohol rising up only once its at ambient temperature, this is smooth and not heavy to drink. the berries add a lot to this, are super well incorporated, and are dark and rich, so good. this is really exceptional and original beer, and i am glad they continue to play with different fruits and barrels and such. not to be missed for fans of the series!

A great fruit on a great base. On tap at fort Collins tapoom.full mouthfeel. The fruit is artistic not your corner store puree, rather all the fruit through to the seeds in a sour sauce.
