Crooked Stave is excited to announce the release of Lupulin Gumbo, a Juicy IPA brewed in collaboration with Vermont-based brewery Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Named in tribute to Phish’s "Gumbo", this limited release combines the brewing techniques of both breweries, highlighting the tropical, citrus flavors of the unique hop combination and resulting in a juicy, 7% ABV IPA hopped with Talus, Vista and HBC 630.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (0-5% clarity) medium but incredibly bright and effervescent orange/golden/yellow color with a massive white head to support. SRM of 7. Absolutely beautiful. (4.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of grapefruit, white wine, orange and lemon citrus with a Heastie Funk intensive banana and esters. (3.50)
Flavor: Strong and juicy flavors of orange citrus, lemon citrus, grapefruit, berries, lightly floral. A strong is defunct within that evolves into an ester aroma of banana and cream. Smooth and mildly sweet. (3.50)
Feel: Medium body, average carbonation, yeasty, slightly tart with Easti funk, and creamy off to finish. (4.00)
Compared to Toppling Goliath MoZee 10/2023: Pours hazier, larger head. Stronger aromas. More tropical peach, melon, and grape. More funk and banana. Less orange white grape, grapefruit, berries, and zest.
Compared to Sunkissed Imprint 10/2023: Pours hazier, larger head. Stronger aromas. More tropical peach, melon, and grape. More funk and banana. Less orange citrus zest. Creamier and more smooth.
Overall: An okay NEIPA here. Haven't had much of Crooked Stave or Lawson's Finest. Cool hop combination with Talus, Vista, and HBC 630. Haven't had Vista before that I know of, but something seemed off in this one as there seems to be some funky/tart yeast and esters giving it a banana profile. Seems like some off-flavors, but I guess could be the hop combination.
