Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a snifter, the beer is a crystal clear, deep caramel coloring, with a filmy, light, off-white head. Nose of tart cherry, oak, chardonnay, subtle sour notes, and subtle earthy tones. Smooth and balanced. Flavors are tart cherry and floral notes forward, smooth and balanced, with woody and caramel in the backbone. Insanely smooth and light, increasing the drinkability. Clean, slick finish. Very nice!

a sour from crooked stave that actually has some real grain character to it. usually for me the beers are so mature and puckery that the acidity covers up any real grain flavor, leavign it merely as a source of sugar for alcohol than for a flavor agent, so i like that this caramel colored brew has some bready grain base to it before the brett funk chimes in. it stays balanced though, never evolving or devolving maybe into an acidity bomb like some others, and while this is relatively straight forward beer by crooked stave standards, i think stands as something unique in their lineup. the brett comes in waves, first weird and wet dog like, than super dry and tart, but there remains a touch of brown sugar sweetness there. its confusing ot the palate really, especially after a few other crooked stave sours, but i enjoy its differences more than i wish for sameness. it could take a little more carbonation, but other than that its lovely.
