Pours hazy gold with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like fresh flowers, citrus, tropical fruit, some funky barnyard, leather, hay, sweet spice, caramelized bready malt, with floral earthy herbal resinous pine. Tastes like citrusy tropical fruit, orange, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, lemon, fresh flowers, sweet spice, hay, some funky barnyard, leather, caramelized bready malt, with floral earthy herbal resinous pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a really nice Brett IPA.

 

Big foam over hazy bronze; big cheese + a ton of apricot; apricot jam cake, big pineapple + nectarine, hay, washed rind, grapefruit granata comeback; chalky bitter end.

Mature Brett: lots of cheese + stone fruit. Hops dulled by age, but still there. Complex while still drinkable.

A: a hazy pale yellow with white head.

S: funky up front with yeast notes,a big earthy aroma,and a touch of barnyard. Citrus hops are in the finish.

T: earthy funk, with a touch of fairness and citrus in the finish with a bit of solvent.

M: medium light, fairly active carbonation. Finish isn't as dry as i would have expected.

O: overall an interesting beer, but a bit more refining would improve it.

Picked up a single from TW Camelback 6-14-18 for $2.79. Batch 31 with no canning date; cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured a cloudy golden with a huge white head that has some awesome hang time as expected for the style.

Nose has hints of lemon and barnyard, which comes out nicely as the beer warms.

Taste is lemony with some leathery barnyardy phenols that blend well. Not much bitterness but enough to balance the malt base.

Mouthfeel is delightful, very light and very refreshing.

Overall i would love to have a fresher version of this from the hops perspective as the brett has aged quite well!

I love Brettanomyces-brew (Farmhouse) ales - as much as I hate to pour them into a glass, they always tend to go wild at the bottle opening... I had a Famhouse ale from Crooked which was awesome - and this Brett IPA is also outstanding. No surprise, it seems that Artisan breweries like Prairie or Crooked who "specialize" on wild/Brett/farmhouse stuff, do exceptional brews with a character like no other. This is no exception, I'm quite overwhelmed once again: that amazingly spicy, citrusy Brett aroma and that neverending story flavor, that puts you through experiences of different flavors over and over again, such a beer is a true explosion. I am a hands-down fan of IPAs for their hop character and complexity but I must say honestly that when it comes to a Farmhouse or a funky Brett ale that has been crafted with such an excellence, then there is nothing more to say - you just sit (and gulp) with awe. Because it is just simply amazing. Well, do I need to say anymore? Try it out for yourself!

Lots of white head, so much so that I had to be careful how I poured it.

Nice aroma.

Nice mouthfeel.

Plenty of complexity in the flavor.

I was impressed with this beer. It seems to me to be a fine example of other bret beers, and for $9 a four-pack, it is a bargain.

This is one of those brews where the appearance is awesome and unique, but the over the top appearance almost seems fake (flour?). It's yellow and exceedingly hazy (to an extreme). It foamed like mad (it was rattling around in the back of my Lincoln). The aroma is a disappointment. All those bubbles are releasing a raunchy smelling funk. The taste follows suit, and actually goes a little downhill after the initial taste (most go up). The aftertaste lingers bitter and soapy. This just did not work for me - I'm not enjoying it.

12oz can. Packaged 12/28/17. Appearance: Thick, milky, opaque straw yellow, with a pillowy white head. Head and lacing linger throughout Aroma: Pineapple, citrus, hay, grassy, with some of that barnyard funkiness Taste: Very light malt sweetness, kind of cracker like in taste, followed by a light citrus, hay, and barnyard funk. Bitterness is moderate on the swallow, but builds on the finish. Mouthfeel: Light bodied, highly carbonated. Finish: Dry, citric tartness and high bitterness linger after the swallow. Some retronasally funkiness. Overall: Really nice showcase of a brett fermented IPA. Beautiful head and lacing from the high carbonation. Light malt character allows the yeast character to shine from aroma all the way through the finish. A touch of fruity citrus and pineapple is there, but overall dominated by the grassy, hay, barnyard characteristics typically associated with brett. Well done
