Pours a clear golden color with a medium top of white head that dissolves slowly
Aroma is citrus peels, white bread, crackers and some herbal notes.
Taste starts of slightly dry with citrus notes allong with bready malt tones in the background. Finish is slightly bitter with earthy and herbal hop notes and leaves a decent aftertaste. Crisp and clean mouthfeel with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
An absolutely nice and enjoyable festbier.

Bright pale gold with snowy white cap that’s rock solid; fresh baked bread on the nose with pencil erasers, a tart lemon tang, and floral end; cracker, lemon zest, hints of apricot skin + marzipan, and a spicy hop end; clean, dry, light.

The challenge with this one was always going to be distinguishing it from the Original Helles, the Pils, but especially the (Oktober)Festbier. The official blurb says it’s a seasonal brewed with “a different hop every time” but no luck finding what that hop might be.
What you get is a slightly deeper maltiness + rounded body than you might expect from a Helles-ish Fest. There are orchard fruit hints that could be ascribed to the mystery hop variety, but they’re similar enough to what I’ve tasted in Vitus (weiss yeast, I know) that I’m tempted to point to something process-related for the answer.
Regardless, this is pleasant and well-crafted, if possibly not deserving of its own label. But I’ll take all the Weihenstephaner I can get.
Still don’t know what winter lager is, but this is another good one.

51 cl bottle poured into my fave lager glass, in Toulouse, France. Fair foam for the photo, disappears quick. Golden brew.
Nose is inviting maltiness, pure and simple.
Taste is malty, slightly sweet, followed by fine noble and floral hops. There’s a vague bitter note. A little watery, but that’s OK. It doesn’t detract from what it is: a German Festbier.
Mouth is full-bodied and smooth, perfect effervescence.
Overall, caught wonderfully fresh, this is a nice seasonal delight.

Poured into a Willy Becher. Nice look. Clear and golden. Sweet Malts, pure aroma. Taste is so crisp and super drinkable... Best x-lass beer ever!
