Golden amber, no head to speak of, but some good clingy bubbles on the edges. Somewhat hazy.
Hint of smoke in the nose backed by some sweet cereal malt and some hop esters.
Nice bourbon notes in the taste, backed by a subtle woody smoke. Hop bitterness is solid enough to cut any perceived sweetness. Instead, wood and a hint of apple skin predominate. Very nice combination. There it's also a lingering cardamom spiciness that gives it some richness.
Medium body with little thickness to it. Overall dry, with just a hint of grainy sweetness.
I'm digging this beer. Balanced, good body, clean finish, and plenty of subtle flavor notes. Not sweet enough to be a true Scottish ale, but my favorite Scottish ales have not been made in Scotland anyway. This one definitely makes the list.

Had on tap. Murky amber body with no head. Yay smoke, weird fruit esters and yeast, not great cereal and honey that stick out like a sore thumb. Taste only makes this worse, the contrast between these three groups results in the smoke and char becoming almost sour. Understand the new take, but this one did not jive. Feel is overly yeasty and heavy for style, and otherwise chewy. Not a treat

The taste offends me, it looks and smells beautiful though
