Hazy peach colour under a moderate head that leaves behind a lot of lace. Wheat and peach on the nose. Maybe a hint of tropical fruit. And a touch of alcohol. Appetizing. Noticeably peachy to taste, set along side wheat. Not as soft as a lot of hefes, has a bit of an sharp edge to it and just a touch of metal. Slightly astringent bitterness to finish. Drinkable,

My wife and I are a big fan of Belgium Wheat Beers and especially Hoegaarden (we have it on tap at our house!). I purchased a 12 pack of Queen of Wheat from the bottle shop at Spearhead, when I went to get my flat of Spearhead Lighter Lager.
I was quite surprised by the Queen of Wheat. I have had other wit beers from craft brewers before and they never measured up to our beloved Hoegaarden. This beer is beyond what I had expected. It is refreshing and matches any real wit that I have had. I think this might even replace our go to! Now if only they had kegs....

A great wheat beer, and an absolute favourite for summer sipping.
Just a hint of tartness, totally refreshing, and the wonderful story behind the beer doesn't hurt either!

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Aug 25 2021 and served barely chilled. Described as a "classic Belgian-style white beer" on the back label, but without any coriander or orange peel in the ingredients list, I'm not so sure about that.
Pours a hazy, translucent pale golden colour, kicking up nearly a finger of tight, soapy white head that sizzles off within a minute or two. A narrow ring of lace is deposited, with a frothy collar and filmy cap also remaining in place - yep, looks like a wheat beer to me. It smells of wheaty, bready pale malts and clove spiciness, with hints of orange zest and apple skin; there are also faint suggestions of peach and bubblegum.
A tasty little wheat beer, more akin to a German hefe than a Belgian white if you ask me. The peach is more of a background note - it's noticeable right off the bat, but only barely, and is quickly pushed aside by flavours of wheaty grain and bready pale malt sweetness. Lots of bubblegum by mid-sip, with hints of clove spice and citrus peel rounding out the back end; the aftertaste includes more wheaty malt, bubblegum and a whisper of peach. Light-medium in body, with middling carbonation levels that roll gently across the tongue, fizzing softly; very smooth, soft and eminently sessionable if you enjoy wheat beers.
Final Grade: 3.76, a B+. Queen of Wheat is a solid wheat beer, but a classic Belgian white? I think hefeweizen is a closer fit - it's got that banana/bubblegum ester going on big time, which I tend to associate much more with hefes vs. witbiers. As for the peach, it's more of a background note, so beer geeks with no interest in fruity beers should still be able to enjoy this. I'd buy this again, ideally in the summer months: there's something about a tall glass of wheat beer in the hot weather that is just so damn refreshing.

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario 473ml at 5%.
Poured into glass with a 2 finger head leaving a lace all around as you drink it.
Hints of banana flavor with a very low bitterness level.
Overall a good refreshing and zesty wheat beer. Easy to drink.
Cheers
