Pours a silky inky dark brown like the expulsion of a deep see tentacled creature.. Smells robust and sweet, some combination warm hazlenut and chocolatey notes are prominent as per labeled, almost giving off a berry aroma.
Hits hard. Full-bodied, crisp especially for such a robust brew. Bitter and dank, but with a chocolate front flavor thats pleasing but not a beer for the faint of heart.

Really nice, big, flavored stout. Leans a little to hard on the bitter roasted notes, especially when colder, but that's better than tipping into the syrupy sweet side for me.
Deep black beer with a quick dark chocolate colored head that rises and falls back to a healthy collar of mocha foam.
Nose is soft and nutty
Taste starts out extremely bitter, like burnt bread or nuts and cacao. As it warms some sweetness comes up to balance and leaves the impression of a dark nutty bread. I can see the hazelnut and chocolate spread but its more a very dark fruit and but cake type of thing.
Mouthfeel is wonderful. Very rich.but not overly syrupy

Modeled after that popular hazelnut spread, Omnipollo stumbles upon a bounty of hazelnuts, and apparently chocolate, grains and a dangerous amount of sugar. And all of that goes right into the vat.
What emerges is a jet black beer with a dainty rise of mocha whipped foam. Strikingly dessert-like in its scent, the nose is lead by chocolate, nuttiness, cream and vanilla. And to taste, its basically cake batter.
Dissecting its tastes further, the middle palate is heavily saturated with toffee, caramel and sorghum with those hazelnut flavors noticeable but not overwhelming. All wrapped in a vanilla cream blanket and resting on a pillow of milk chocolate and the beer's taste is nothing short of cake batter.
Cloying, heavy and lacking balance, Argus is basically a chocolate sauce that's been thinned out with the help of eleven percent in booze solely for pourability sake.

forever a 3.8 - 4.2 brewery, i'm sure they're searching for that big hit... but it just aint come. good, but always just a tad above average... at best. maybe there just isnt a 'right' combination for their stout recipe? this is good. but it just doesnt hit the high notes, ya know? they've got some great ideas (obviously) but nothing i have had really pans out.... this one is nice. thick and creamy. lots of flavor and on-point with their description. not baggin' on 'em; i just dont think they can rise above the 'above-average' status, ya know? i mean, they're GOOD, no?
