Ominipollo Daidalos Imperial Pastry Stout, 12% ABV. Pours black and real thick, with a three-finger dark brown head that left no lacing. Nose is almond. Taste is almond, chocolate, and coffee, quite sweet, slightly bitter. Excellent thick mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Overall outstanding.

Pours a viscous black-brown color; nice light brown head, fairly dense and spongy. Chocolate and cocoa on the nose with an touch of herbal spiciness. Big flavor; milk chocolate and cocoa with a dab of rich black coffee; fine bitterness undercurrent; a twitch of booziness. Rich, oily mouthfeel; dense and silky on the palate; the beer coats the palate with darkly sweet stickiness.
Getting on three years since its canning, the beer remains a monster. The can indicates above average additions of almond, chocolate, and coffee. All adjuncts still make themselves felt. Rich and complex.

Fabulous beer. No barrel aging, but this is stellar. Color is darkest mahogany. Minimal mocha head. Aroma is whispy chocolate and nuts. Flavor is stupendous. The coffee and almonds blend perfectly. The alcohol hides entirely. This is the first high ABV beer that didn’t give a “buzz” from the alcohol; more like a calming effect, perhaps the double coffee off-setting the alcohol in earnest. $9/16 oz worth every penny.

Deep dark viscous, chocolate sweet and nutty. That is the nose and the taste combined. Good Stuff, doesn't drink like 12%, 11% maybe, but not 15%!!!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a good amount of dark brown head. With everything in this one, the nose is fairly muted. A bit of a surprise. I definitely get almonds right out of the gate. Next I get coffee grinds, freshly-baked bread, a slight note of tar, burnt marshmallow, and oak. The taste takes a slightly different direction than the nose. Big dark fruits pop out almost immediately on the first sip. Blackberries are dominant, but fresh figs and prunes come through over time. Chocolate, coffee, wet leather, a bit of soy sauce, and a big nutty taste. Definitely almonds, but I also get walnuts. The balance of sweetness and bitterness is great - one doesn't pull too much. This is really enjoyable with a nice thick mouthfeel. Not sure if I would buy many more of these, but it was a nice experience.

Happy Leif Erikson day! Lovingly nicknamed "the double durgen" Really though, I like selling it, because it gives me an opportunity to say Svenska and Sverige
L: It's blacker than the blackest black. The carbonation is minimal--The lacing that is there is a toffee brown.
S: Boozy and malty. Lots of chocolate.
T: Actually good. Better than regular chocolate for starters. It's not overly sweet, perhaps because it has been bittered by coffee. Coffee works well with beer because it's easy to get a nice organic flavor out of it. The almonds are almost a shoe-in, meaning, not only does the flavor work well with coffee and chocolate, but the oils in them contribute to the thick creamy lactic profile of the brew.
F: It's a sipper for sure. Then again, 2 of these equivalates to an 8 pack of say, Guinness.
O: I can hardly think of a better winter warmer. I'll have to wait a few months for the season to be right to sell it vigorously, but I'm fairly sure the cans will hold until then if I store them properly (I did). It's quite good. It will be the standard I judge other 10%+ dessert stouts by.

Been a while since I had a beer from Omnipollo so when I saw this last week at ShopRite Liquors in Little Falls, I wanted to give it a go. No, I don't normally drink Stouts that are this heavy once the weather warms up but this was intriguing from the name to the label to it's description. Yes, this was indeed a beast but there was enough going on here to take the rough edges off and make this quite enjoyable as a dessert offering!
Of course, this poured dark with a silky look to and plenty of mocha head topping it off as there were quite a few big bubbles rising to the surface in the midst of the smooth and supple foam. Not a lot of lacing left behind as most of the suds that were left on my pint glass slid down the side. No light seeped in around the edges as this reminded me of coffee in terms of it's consistency. Quite a bit of brownie batter in the nose along with coffee, and Hershey's chocolate as the taste was much more sticky. Think marshmallow, pecan, and almonds with enough lactose sugar to keep this sweet and keep the warming from the booze to a minimum. A bit of praline and s'mores emerged once this fully warmed up as this was an American Imperial Stout that ended up coming across as a dessert beer more than anything else.
Don't be fooled, as this was strong and left a subtly boozy feel on my palate once it fully went down. Canned on 2/26, this was plenty fresh and easy to fall in love with, but I wouldn't have this unless I was calling it a night and shot a chaser of water first to clear my palate out. Can't figure the label as this beer was a bit of an oddity as well, although I'd easily reach for another one of these tomorrow night if I had one here!

Picked up a pint can of this at the local bottle shop because the write up on the website looked interesting enough to at least try a single. 2/26/2021 date on bottom. Poured into a DFH tulip this is probably not the first time I've given the look a 5 rating but I think it's impossible for an Imperial Stout to look better than this: very dark brown body with a full dark khaki head that takes a while to fade with abundant lacing. Smell is the weak point because until it warms up its mostly undefined sweetness. When it warms a chocolate syrup and coffee aroma emerge but more understated and uncomplex than I like. It's the taste where the almond flavors get added to the chocolate and coffee tastes, on the edge of being too sweet but never crossing that line. Alcohol is very understated. Mouthfeel is full while still being refreshing. There's nothing drop-the-hammer-so-sip-this-carefully aspect to this but you drink it slowly anyway to enjoy it.
Another good non barrel aged Imperial Stout. I may snag another just to enjoy it on a cooler night because tonight is warmer than ideal for this

Well my second almond-chocolate-sugary stout of the evening. Guess I’m going with a theme here. Picked up at a new local store for $7. Artwork features a mysterious tear over an eye over a maze. Not sure what the title of this beer comes from - is it Daedalus the giant squid? Regardless it’s my first from this brewery. Poured out the deepest of brown, looking black as it poured from the bottle. Very pleasing one inch head of perfect khaki color. Coffee is the strongest scent when I breathe in. Very nutty, almondy. Bittersweet chocolate on the tongue, firmly balanced sweetness of malt with bitterness of coffee. The description on the bottle is similar to what you get. This is not overly sweet which I appreciate, it’s kind of like a morning coffee really with just a little milk and sugar. Mouthfeel is pleasantly smooth and moderately carbonated. Overall I like the balance of this brew and I think it’s well done for what it is.
