Served in a pint glass at Lost Dog Café/Arlington.
An excellent beer but too far out of style, too spicy, too hoppy. I will drink this again, but I now know what to expect.
A – A dark clear amber. Bartender poor did not give me a good sense of the head.
S – Some typical saison funk, spice, but not much else.
T – A spicy, hoppy saison.
MF – A medium bodied beer, probably a bit too heavy for a saison.

32oz brewery filled growler. Pours a crystal clear copper, with a finger sized cap of slightly off-white foam. This maintains a rich frothiness, which coats the sides of the glass with sticky swathes of lacing. The aroma smells bready, spicy, sweet and fruity, all at once. The phenolic character here gives the nose a bit of airiness in the nostrils. The taste is sweet and lightly fruity on the edges, balanced by the dryness of the rye and a firm citric bitterness. Peppery spices are scattered throughout, lingering in the finish along with some pithy bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a firm, almost crisp creaminess to the carbonation. It’s also fairly slick on the edges, making this a very smooth drinking Saison. This was very nice. The flavors had a nice flow to them and it was extremely quaffable for the style. They nailed this one!

Had on draft at Pizza Paradiso, DuPont Circle in Washington, DC
A: moderate head; clear dark amber; moderate carbonation; very good lacing
S: yeasty, malty aroma; very inviting; wow, this aroma deserves a 5.5
T: outstanding saison; mosaic dry-hopped rye saison; sweet, fruity; tastes boozier than it is
Really fantastic collaboration; get some while you can, because this may not last.
