Inside this can you’ll find a triple dry-hopped, barrel-conditioned, lactose-slushy...nah we’re just kidding. This is a Pilsner, straight up.

Despite the fact that we’ve toiled for years (literally) to perfect it, it’s never going to shake those “normal beer” vibes. Does anyone have a problem with that? Not us.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 9 2025 and served barely chilled. This is descended from Kensington's old Market Pils recipe, or at least that's what this beer's Untappd page would seem to imply.

Pours a relatively clear golden-yellow colour with lots of effervescence; at least two fingers of puffy, soapy white head rises from the surface. It dissipates over the next five minutes or so, leaving behind a frothy collar and a thin cap, as well as a smattering of spotty lace - looks good to me. Clean aroma of grainy malts, freshly baked bread and some grassy, earthy, slightly herbal hops.

The flavours follow the nose: grainy pale malts dominate, along with some bready, biscuity sweetness that is joined by noble hops later in the sip. Grassy, herbal and a bit spicy, with bready malts and a touch of caramel dissipating into a mildly malty aftertaste that dries off within a second or two. Medium-light in body, with moderate carbonation that gently prickles the surface of the palate; feels smooth and a little slick on the tongue. Solid drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.74, a B grade. Kensington is a name I haven't seen much lately, at least not around here - heck, I don't think I've seen their Augusta Ale in a decade - but it's nice to see that they're still alive and kicking. I don't remember enough about their Market Pils to say whether or not they've improved their mainline lager in the last ten years, but I do think that Augusta Pils is a pretty decent brew. That being said, the competition in this product category is stiff, with plenty of other great domestic or imported alternatives. I'm sure I'll buy this again, and will encourage other lager lovers to do the same.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. Canned February 18/26. My 3rd beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 1st for 2026. Lovingly embraced by Sundae the cat...

From a 473ml can dated 12/09/2025. poured into a pilsner glass. A big three finger bubbly white head on a very slightly hazy pale straw. Good head retention. Minimal patchy lacing.

Noble hops and grain in the nose. Taste is a bit thin for the first sip but lots of flavour bringing up the rear.

Medium/light body and good carbonation. Overall a solid German Pilsner.
