Dragontail is a modern take on the West Coast IPA, with a blend of hops that give this beer notes and aromas of juicy citrus, sweet peach, and honeydew melon. The malts provide a smooth mouthfeel while letting the character of the hops shine through.

Draft pour into a 16 ounce shaker pint at a bar.

Look- Pale gold, moderately hazy, white sudsy head, average head retention, above average lacing.

Smell- Clementine, pineapple, slight peach, between weak and medium strength of scent.

Taste- Grapefruit, clementine, pineapple, between weak and medium strength of flavor.

Feel- Between thin and medium body, average carbonation, mildly creamy, moderately bitter, mildly astringent, mildly mouth warming.

Overall- Appearance was pale gold with moderate hazy. The bouquet was a mix of tropical fruit, but the intensity was on the weaker side. The flavor was a mix of grapefruit, clementine and pineapple that followed true the nose, but was also underpowered. The feel was thinner than expected with a small amount of astringency. This beer felt much more like a NEIPA than a WCIPA. I didn’t get any notes of pine. Overall there was nothing majorly wrong with the beer other than not having strong enough flavor and aromatics and the lack of pine in a WCIPA.

This beer pours a darker golden color and a medium head that doesn't hang around. The aroma is citrus and a slight bitterness. The taste is light malt, and a light hop bitter taste. Well balanced beer. Doesn't really taste like a 60 IBU beer. BOD 9-4-2024

I got a can of this beer from the lobby store of the Hampton Inn in Leavenworth, WA. It poured a slightly hazy golden with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had fresh pineapple and mango notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright malt base with pineapple and mango presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Pours a clear golden amber with plenty of foam in the Brigand chalice. Hops are listed as Cashmere, Mosaic, Citra, Azacca, El Dorado, and Simcoe. Brewed with flaked oats, which seems to add to the spritzy and silky mouthfeel but not adding cloudiness. This is an interesting mix of grainy and fruity, with a peppery and bitter aftertaste. Some hot and bitter citrus peel taste and a moderate astringency. From the 12 oz can dated 05/25/22.

12oz can pours out a fairly clear golden with a small cap of off-white head. Inviting aromas lean West Coast, moderate sweetness and malt body and traditional WC dry hopping, some pine and caramel. Clean flavors for sure, very easy drinking with lower bitterness, Enjoyable.

a serviceable but not incredible west coast ipa here, nice to see so much varietal come through in their relaunch of idaho. rather clear in the glass, deep golden to brassy toned, just a bit of malt color, with an average white head on it from the tap, looks fine. the aroma is a little more grain forward than expected, especially in the absence of a more robust dry hop profile, its hoppy but kind of old school and bitter, a lot less fruity than their hazy ones have been, and so the malt stands out a little more, maybe slightly copper forward to me, not metallic but mineral rich, slightly sweet. the flavor is a little more in line with what i expect for the style, some juicy grapefruit up front, an early start for the hops which is great, watermelon rind, green bitterness, red apple, spruce tree, some balancing sweetness to the grain. i do like the assertive bitterness that kicks up about halfway through, and how the finish comes quicker than expected, but it sags a little in feel through the second half of the pint, and doesnt quite have the balance and depth i was hoping for. the ferment is clean which is critical, and the quality is there, but this does not distinguish itself from the crowd of these very well, much as its a solid pint. not the most impressive of the new wave of icicle ipa types to come through...

Served in shaker pint. Poured a bright, clean, clear light-medium gold color with 1/3 inch of white head that had low retention and lacing.

The aroma started out lightly sweet, and then had some citrusy hops pop out.

The flavor was very similar, just expanded; the malts were a bit sweeter and the hops brighter. Nicely balanced.

The body was medium for the style, smooth, and had a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was good, an easy quaff.

Overall, a solid, but particularly notable, take on the style. Worth a shot if you see it.
