The tenth release in our modern West Coast IPA series, this bold double IPA builds its solid foundation on a single, time-tested hop variety: Mosaic. Peaking out at 8.5% ABV and brewed with heaps of Mosaic, this smooth IPA provides delightful notes of berry, pineapple, orange, peach, and nectarine.

Peak Seeker Double IPA (#10: Lookout). Pint can served in an imperial pint glass. Light straw yellow in color, mostly clear, foamy lacing on the glass. Flavor is citrusy with orange pith and fruit, peach, maybe some bitter melon. But there's also a solid backbone with some crystal malt. Enough residual sugar to go along with the alcohol to give it a pretty rich mouthfeel. While the taste of this DIPA isn't so remarkable, it's pretty cool to have such an oldschool take on a big IPA that combines West coast flavors with the proportions of a beer like 90 minute. At least that's what this brings me back to, personally.

Single 16oz can courtesy of a friend; first experience with Icicle Brewing
Poured into an Imprint Belgian-style tulip
P clear darkish gold/copper w/ a 1f off-white head; quick recession w/ med-heavy lace left behind; notable
N med nose of caramel, resin, and a touch of pineapple
T really nice profile; resiny notes, fruitiness, and caramel throughout; dotted with pine, some candied citrus, and zesty pineapple; mild-med heat in the finish
Mf med-full bodied w/ med-high carb
O a bright, yet complex and satisfying dipa; exceeded my expectations for sure; would definitely have again!

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured a clear golden with very little head that left some lace. The scent had citrus and bittering hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp semi sweet malt base with citrus, pineapple, and bold finish hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.
