This limited release imperial pastry stout in our Dark Persuasion family is carefully crafted to evoke the decadent flavors of a classic espresso delight. Enjoy flavors of rich caramel, locally roasted coffee, and notes of creamy vanilla in a smooth, well-balanced and nuanced treat. Contains lactose.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, toffee and light coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, toffee, vanilla and latte coffee. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A nicely brewed imperial stout just across the tracks from a pastry stout; clear dessert (caramel macchiato) character, lightly sweet but not as cloying as many pastry stouts. The coffee tastes more like a vanilla latte to me than a macchiato, but in the ballpark and enjoyable. Excellent coffee notes and the caramel and vanilla are deftly handled. Pleasant creamy body. Well done.
