Pours a dark brown color, not much head. Sweet aroma, very rich and sugary. Flavor is very rich, hints of peat, sweet sharp maltly notes. Perfect feel and body to this one. Overall a great scotch ale, perfect sweetness and body.

Had it on tap at NY Pizza in the Outer Banks NC. Served in a 10 oz glass, this beer was a dark hazy brown color with a small off-white head that faded fast, Left some lacing on the glass, Aroma was slightly sweet malt with very little of the toffee like flavor associated with many Scotch Ales. Still a nice strong, sweet aroma. Rich malty taste as well, slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is rich, very smooth with a minimal alcohol presence (though plenty of alcohol effect). A good take on this style

Poured from tap into a snifter glass
Appearance is dark deep brown with a modest head of off-white foam. Smell is malty and sweet with an added note of depth from the aging on Kill Devil Rum. The taste follows the nose but with an extra richness and a surprisingly smooth rounded finish. The assertive taste and smooth finish are what set this beer apart from its competition. Not what you might expect from such a big, high ABV beer. AWESOME! Lastly, the beer has a well matched level of carbonation with relatively clean mouthfeel.
Overall: Excellent Beer, and the best Scotch Ale I have had to date.

Served on tap in a sample glass.
Appearance: Brown with u almost no head.
Smell: Sweeter notes and alcohol.
Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of alcohol and rum/Scotch like spicing.
Overall: Excellent brew! I would definitely have this one again.
