another lager from these guys that is better than its ratings. i found this to be a very classically styled pils, lots of european malt character to it, and a nice bitter finish, not as light as the north fork, quite a bit more substantial in fact, and more flavorful too, its solid, a beer drinkers lager, and i am surprised this hasnt gotten a little more positive feedback to be honest. clear and well carbonated, glowing golden in afternoon light. it smells and tastes old worldy to me, the malt is bigger than some of these, but no sweeter, a dry bready thing, its nice and it sets up the noble hops well, which actually are quite bitter after an herbal start. the yeast is traditional too, and i can taste and appreciate it all the way through this one. lightly doughy, drying, and definitely crisping this up pretty well. fresh and tasty, true to style, not a whole lot more i want out of one of these really. payette is doing some nice beers, both classic and innovative, and its a cool place to hang out. one of my favorites in boise so far!

edit: this was even better the second time around, super fresh, clean on the grain side, and with a brightness to it thats really summery and uplifting, floral there as well. fast and refreshing without sacrificing flavor. really good local lager here!

Draft at PreFunk - Boise. Clear golden body, right amount of small foamy head. Aroma clocks in with a nice grainy scent, grassy, hay. Taste follows with more emphasis on the grain bill, hops providing a nice bite at the finish. Need more breweries to do Pils and lagers. I enjoyed this.
